This past weekend I had the honor of attending Cosy's exclusive handbag collection launch party, an event benefiting Gilda's Club - a nonprofit organization that helps families affected by cancer. When my dear friend Lissette (pictured in the first photo), the president of Cosy and a survivor of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, reached out to me about the evening affair, I knew it wasn't one to be missed.

Fashion enthusiasts, friends, and family members came together at Williamsburg's Bar Celona (such a chic venue!) on Saturday to get a first look at the leather handbags and shop the company's jewelry line, but most importantly, for a cause. Generous sponsors including Joe Fresh, Godiva, and Goya among others contributed lust-worthy prices valued at hundreds of dollars.  Naturally, I signed up to be in the running for the Joe Fresh prize, and (again, naturally) didn't win. Next time!

Now, for a little more about the handbags... Each bag was designed by Lissette as a reflection of her personal aesthetic and, as she puts it, "An expression of [her] vision to be shared with the world." Hand-crafted entirely in Europe and made of genuine leather, the line boasts several shades of warm brown, a classic black, and my personal favorite, an eye-catching red-orange hue (pictured above). But, perhaps my favorite thing (or two) about the collection is the minimalist design, and weight (or lack thereof) of each bag - two very important things for a working girl in New York.

For more on Cosy and its owners, or to shop their beautiful designer pieces, head on over to their website. A special thanks to Lissette and the Cosy team for having me as their guest.
