I'm Rose—a twenty-something year old New Yorker by way of South Florida, and the creative mind behind Style Operator—my very own little corner on the Internet. I'm just a style-obsessed, coffee-loving, good sale-hunting girl that loves to write. Combine all of that with my love for the digital space and creating kick-ass content and you get Style Operator.

With a background in styling and visual merchandising, and a B.A. in Multimedia Journalism, I made the big move to NYC in January 2012—just weeks after graduating from college.

Let's skip to the good part.

So there I was: fresh out of college, with nothing to lose, and living the dream (or, so I thought). I spent my days applying to any and every job posting I could find in the digital/media field, and finally after just two weeks as an official New Yorker, I landed an internship at an entertainment magazine.

During the day, I worked my ass off (without pay), and at night I worked as a coat-check girl at a restaurant where I made just enough money for food and coffee, lots of coffee. Living the dream, I tell you. I did that for about two months, until they offered me a full-time position as an editor of the magazine and reporter for the Website, covering some of the coolest events all over the city.

New York views (and coffee) never get old to me.

My first-ever print byline back in 2012. Look momma, I made it!

During my time as an editor, I got to meet and network with so many incredible people in the fashion industry. It was then that I realized I wanted to pursue a career in fashion—I didn't know what I wanted to do yet, but I knew I wanted fashion to be a part of my daily life. I wanted to be immersed in it.

Some time and a lot of networking later, I landed a job in fashion. And, the rest is history!

What started as an assignment for a media studies class back in my college days, Style Operator later evolved into a creative outlet and is now a huge part of my life. Here, we'll cover all things fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and New York living (the good, bad, and the ugly), while operating in style.

My main goal is to show you how you, too, can be stylish and fabulous on any budget.

  • I was born on July 26, 1989.

  • I’m the epitome of a Leo—loyal, impatient, optimistic, romantic, love attention—that’s me!

  • Everyone says I’m “so tall,” but I consider myself average and love my height.

  • Oh, I’m 5’9″ if you were wondering.

  • I curse like a sailor. Oops.

  • I was born in New York,

  • But lived in South Florida most of my life.

  • And moved back to NYC as soon as I graduated college.

  • What did I study? Journalism.

  • I always wanted to be on TV, perhaps the Hispanic Katie Couric.

  • Turns out I’m a better writer than I am a public speaker.

  • I used to be extremely shy growing up.

  • But then I competed in a beauty pageant (Miss Miami International) and it changed my life. I was first runner up!

  • Now I have no shame what-so-ever.

  • I speak Spanish and Italian fluently.

  • French and Portuguese are next on the list.

  • I want to travel the world more than anything.

  • I love food—I’ll try anything once.

  • I can cook. Yes, it’s true.

  • But I can’t follow a recipe to save my life.

  • I’m the first in my {immediate} family to graduate college.

  • I’m a big sister.

  • My “little” sister? She’s seven years younger than me.

  • But we’re both convinced we were twins in the womb. She was just seven years late to the party.

  • I grew up around seamstresses and designers, but I don’t know how to do either.

  • I’m working on it.

  • Oh, I work in fashion, and I love my job.

  • I love music—all types.

  • I also LOVE to dance

  • I’m Dominican, and I love my culture.

  • I’m a lipstick hoarder.

  • Red lipstick is my go-to, though.

  • I can’t have a conversation in the morning without having a sip of coffee. I warned you.

  • I also can’t leave the house without earrings—every woman should wear earrings, in my opinion.

  • I’m super blind.

  • So I wear contacts on the daily.

  • I had braces for 2 years. Twice.

  • I change my hair often because, well, change is good!

  • I don’t need anyone’s approval.

  • Except for my mom and dad’s (besides God, obviously).

  • I have a short temper. Did I mention I was a Leo?

  • I forgive, but I never forget.

  • However, I have self-diagnosed myself with short-term memory loss. But, #42 says… nevermind.

  • Shopping is my therapy, cardio, hobby, all of the above.

  • Magazines are my crack.

  • I watch YouTube more than I watch TV.

  • I’m sort of, like, a computer junkie—HTML, coding, editing video/photos, etc. I’m your girl.

  • I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful.

  • I’m a procrastinator. Always have been. Always will be.

  • You deserve a medal for reading through all of that!
